Why we keep them listed
Most tools drop a model the moment it stops being available. That is the opposite of useful: the point at which you most need information about a model is right after it stopped working.
So retired models stay in the dataset with their shutdown date, their last known price and the provider's own notice attached. They also stay addressable — if an old model id is still hard-coded somewhere, searching for it gets you an answer instead of a blank page.
