Opus 4.7 was released on 16 April 2026 and introduced the tokenizer used by the models after it, which is why a 1M-token window holds roughly 555K words on this generation against roughly 750K words on earlier ones. It was succeeded first by Claude Opus 4.8 and then by Claude Opus 5, both at the same $5 / $25.

It accepts text and image input and returns text, with adaptive thinking and effort defaulting to high. This is also the first Claude model on which setting temperature, top_p or top_k to a non-default value returns a 400 error.

No deprecation has been announced. Anthropic commits to keeping Claude Opus 4.7 available until at least 16 April 2027.
